a sunny day I wonder why you were there all alone out in the bright light shining you can take these things away and I'd be fine ordinary angel you are bound and defined by the hours you can run and hide if your heart is in pain but you threw away all the flowers so many times I stumble and I fall so many times I just can't count them all out of sight am I out of your mind and there's nothing that I can do to make it right I guess you have it your way a chance to be free of the things you feel on an island so far away you can just take the mess you made and call it mine so many times I stumble and I fall so many times I just can't count them all just another step on my way

Common Blood 03:28
is it ever enough to want to feel sublime is it ever enough when someone else is left behind dark thoughts dark hearts dark Gods still alive in the common blood why do we hold these things inside ourselves is it ever gonna stop we are no better than the worst of us is there something left to learn would we even know if we found it does it tear at your heart the way we keep each other down tell me all about freedom when a bullet puts another child in the ground if just for one moment we could look around and see every hand held out dark thoughts dark hearts dark Gods still alive in the common blood why do we hold these things inside ourselves is there nothing to be done we are no better than the worst of us is there something left to learn would we even know if we found it

Green Things 03:18
I was standing in the cold mountain rain this was no dream the voice of every verdant being cried out lay your body down and be with me it's been years since the vision I can't forget what I've seen I remember every moment there in the heart of the green there in the highest meadow the fog denied the sun but the field was full of flowers, shining every one I felt like I bring down a bolt of lightning with my two hands but instead I watched a honeybee going about his plans would you ever go there with me if I brought the wine have you ever really wanted me in your life like the love of the vines I only need a minute and I'll pack my bags for the mountain side just let me die with green fingers inside I'll be feeling fine there will come a time it's been years since that vision I'll never forget what I've seen there for a moment I was part of the green

do you see the same things I do in morbid visions of the night I'll confess I'm in need of some discipline a circumcision of the mind a single moment's indecision can mean the difference of a life wait for the signs of antipathy I'll be coming right behind is it time to take our things and go running for the line make up your mind there is nothing here that's worthy of the sacrifice why keep me waiting in the dark as if you and were I born to all this suffering in our stars Jabob wrestled in the desert with an angel who would not give his name does faith only come to me in my anguish and shame witness to your own decline you just lie and tell yourself it's alright is it time to take our things and go running for the line may I remind there is nothing here that's worthy of the sacrifice why keep me waiting in the dark as if you and were I born to all this suffering in our stars

An Open Book 03:57
it was a day that seemed like an open book I followed the dog outside a canine conspiracy shared with a look as I threw the kitchen door wide outside the world was waiting with open arms we heard the siren song of life calling with no alarm all the usual faces smiling at us there's Mrs Perkins she's waiting for the bus the Wednesday 28 it's always running late but I hear it coming right now outside the world was open to everyone we heard the siren song of life calling with no alarm we were startled by the violent sound she opened her mouth but no words could come out a crash of metal and the flashing red lights just another moment on the local news tonight it was a day that had seemed like an open book but I had to go home and cry because something so beautiful and precious as life was taken in the wink of an eye outside the world is open to everyone we heard the siren song of life calling with no alarm

Shine 04:01
hey little sister what's with the flowers in your hair I've been thinking about the things you said are you sure your mama won't be there oh it's enough just to hold your hand for now but I wanna know if I come back around are you gonna put a candle out you got a shine that's all your own you got my motor running hot like it's gonna blow you got a shine that's all your own wasn't that what you wanted to know but I got some things I gotta tell you and it's strictly between you and me there's a sound when the night train comes through town and you can't hear nothing else for miles around hey little sister are you by yourself in there cause I come with a heart so full of love and you got so much to share you don't need to turn on a light I see your pale skin by the moonlight come outside girl just like you are and we'll look at the stars you got a shine that's all your own you got me running through the pines all alone you got a shine that's all your own isn't that what you wanted to know but I got some things I gotta tell you and you might not like what you hear there's a sound when the night train comes through town and you can't hear nothing else for miles around

Ghost Love 03:26

about

A compilation of the last couple years, the arc goes across Bowie-esque disco funk, McCartney/Beatles musing on the joys of small town life (with a soupçon of violent death thrown in to keep it from getting too kitschy), nature mystic acoustic with some CSN like vocal harmony, hard groovin Americana with an embedded Big Bad Wolf theme lurking within a seemingly innocuous song about a rural courtship, and just basic 70s heavy guitar, bass & drums throughout, because I never got over hearing Led Zeppelin II as a wee child.
